How can I combine two realities to contrast different environments? I started with street and landscape photography, but found I was able to add meaning by combining two photos. I was always curious about how the presence of opposing subjects in nature could push my work further. By layering the photos I was guided by contrasting landscapes to exaggerate the connections between nature, architecture, and environments. I wanted to create a body of work combining two diverse landscapes to make an unrealistic photo, but still show the beauty of nature and architecture.
I found that film photography added meaning to my work. Experimenting with different environments made a more powerful image by emphasizing the scale of buildings and mountains. Then, I decided to use photoshop to enhance my work, pushing myself to mix film and technology. In Works 9 and 11 I practised combining images of subjects and the ocean, the subject against the ocean creates a surreal image, exaggerating different environments. Works 7,12,13,15 experiment with contrasting different seasons by layering images. Work 6 shows the revisions I made to the original images with a masking tool
