Have you ever had a moment in life where you thought to yourself, I really wish I captured that on camera? These moments happen around us everyday and this is what inspired me to investigate capturing time and ordinary moments that are often overlooked by us due to everyone’s busy commitments or just simply impatience. In our society, being efficient has such a positive connotation that we often forget to pause and look around. Photography has the power to slow us down and capture interesting moments and interactions that allow us to recollect when looking back at those images.
Initially I was capturing the everyday moments that are often overlooked because people simply “have places to be.” But after a few, there was a pattern of repetitiveness so I decided to experiment with movement and time such as getting on a bus(#6) a bus taking a turn (#3) and this further inspired me to capture every action within a 5-10 seconds period and record it all in one image. Through practice and revision I learned to stabilize the image and found the perfect shutter speed. By the end of my investigation I was able to successfully capture the movement of time and light in my images.
