By definition, depression is "feelings of despondency and dejection." I never thought this word would surface in my family until my mother was diagnosed with depression. Her thoughts and behavior changed as depression affects her and she's not the same upbeat mother she was before. Seeing her daily struggle inspired me to bring depression into the world of photography and express my thoughts and emotions of it through black and white portraits.
